Bio on Amy Bonser:

I am very excited about the music programs that I have to offer learners with special needs.  I have 9 years of experience making accommodations for individuals with a variety of challenges including large and small motor, cognitive, and speech and language delays as well as sensory needs.  I have been teaching piano and music privately for the past 10 years and taught another preschool music and movement program for 3 years.  It was my experience teaching younger children with special needs that led me to realize the need for a program that was affordable and more specifically designed to provide benefit and success to children with special needs.  I have created my own music and movement program with the assistance of Katie Shirk.  She is a special education consultant to the Northville school district and well as a presenter on topics pertinent to the special needs community.  She is widely recognized throughout the state of Michigan.  I am also consulting with an occupational therapist.  The program is research based, and is fun for all children but is specifically designed for children with special needs.  I am also available for private lessons.

Please feel free to call her or visit her website listed above!

Plan ahead for fall!

Here is a local dance studio with special needs connections:

Janet is a special education teacher who understands the needs of children with all disabilities.  She integrates children with special needs into her classes, makes them feel welcome and includes them in the recital.  The classes she offers include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Hawaiian and Gymnastics.  You pay monthly so if the children aren't having fun, you can pull them and not be concerned that money has already been invested.  She has had children with Austism, Downs Syndrom, Epilepsy, learning disabilities and she has also had a child in a wheel chair participate.  She places the children with a teacher that isn't concerned about making the children a star and with other children whose parent's aren't concerned about them being a star.  The age group is 3-17 but the children must be potty trained.

It sounds like a wonderful opportunity for our special kids who have the love for music.
