Each parent can sign up according to their child/children’s
disabilities. Some parents could be listed on more then one
disability group. Each parent can research info that pertains to
the needs of their child's disability group. Members would bring
info to the group from personal experiences as well as from other
organizations, such as, but not limited to CHADD, Michigan ASA, Wayne
ASA, Oakland ASA, Everyday Miracles, etc. They could also be key
in getting speakers for the next year's SEPAC meetings during the
2005/2006 school year. Parents are encouraged to actively seek
other parents who have children with disabilities and spread the word
of the SEPAC and encourage them to come and participate. They
can give feedback from supportive organizations, workshops or
conferences of any new info related to their child's particular
disability. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS COMMITTEE IS TO BE A
SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR PARENTS WHO NEED IT and also a resource connection
to help those that have no idea what they need to do to get their
children taken care of. THIS COMMITTEE IS NOT MEANT TO SEGREGATE OR
"LABEL" OUR CHILDREN. We simply want to be able to help other
parents connect with other parents that are going through the EXACT
same thing and be able to help other's out with disability appropriate
information.
